Maca (Lepidium Meyenii)is a root plant native to the Andes of Peru. It is also known as Peruvian ginseng (even though it is not a member of the same botanical family as ginseng), because it is used as a folk remedy to boost stamina, energy, and sexual performance and fertility. It is typically taken as a supplement, liquid extract or powdered form.
Maca, a root that belongs to the radish family, is most commonly available in powder form. Grown in the mountains of Peru, it has been called “Peruvian ginseng.” Maca’s benefits have been long valued, and has recently been popularized as a supplement and food ingredient.
